Yoshinogari Historical Park - Get Experienced The Ancient Civilization

Fig: Yoshinogari
Yoshinogari Historical Park is situated in Kanzaki in Saga Prefecture, Kyūshū, Japan.
The Yoshinogari Historical Park depicts the structures and relics of the Yayoi period of Japanese history (3 c B.C. to 3 c A.D.) of over 600 years. This site has great importance in Japanese and world history because of the massive size and important nature of the settlement and the artifacts found there. These include a settlement with pit-houses, a cemetery, and multiple ditch-and-palisade enclosed precincts. Bronze knives and mirrors , decorative glass beads and then used  decorated pots and pans, coins, bells, and halberds, iron tools, wooden tools, prehistoric human hair, and many other precious artifacts have been unearthed from Yoshinogari features. It is depicted  that the Yoshinogari population wove textiles, lived in permanent farming villages, and constructed buildings with wood and stone. They also accumulated wealth through land ownership and the storage of grain. The total area of this site is approximately 40 hectares.

Another prominent view is the mortuary features of the middle Yayoi period with mounded burials, burial jars containing jade-like glass ornaments and bronze daggers. More than 2000 burial jars dating to this period have come to light, both inside and outside of ditched areas.

Some of the raised-floor buildings of lateYayoi period were quite tall and large. It is assumed that the  largest raised floor building was square in shape (12.5 X 12.5 m²) with pot-moulds that were 40-50 cm in diameter . Yayoi pottery, burial mounds, and food preservation were discovered to be very similar to the pottery of southern Korea. The discovery and subsequent excavation of Yoshinogari caused a sustained sensation in the Japanese media in the late 1980s and early 1990s.The origin of Yayoi culture has long been debated, with records being placed about Chinese and Korean influence.
